Piemonte DOC Albarossa
100% Albarossa, a variety of Piedmontese grape, a cross of Chatus (Nebbiolo Dronfield ) with Barbera that was discovered in 1938 by Prof. Dalmasso of Turin who was searching for new varieties which united Nebbiolo’s elegance and color with the freshness and drinkability of Barbera.
With the Controlled Origin Denomination (DOC) it has become more widespread and recognized over the past decade.
Grapes are softly pressed and de-stemmed. The must is then put into stainless steel tanks where the fermentation and maceration take place. Half of the wine is aged in barrique and the other half in 15 hl barrels for 18 months before being bottled.
